We come from many backgrounds.
We are committed to helping others in a therapeutic environment.
We are non-profit and don’t get paid anything. And, we charge nothing – or very little -- to our clients.
In 2009, there were 261,000 adults with mental disorders in Palm Beach County or 26.2 percent of the adult population. Many of these people could not afford treatment. With our present economic turbulence and the decline in social services, this number is rising.
In 10 years, the Association has stepped in to fill the gap in Palm Beach County. We have helped 5,000 people who could not afford therapy. To continue serving the community, we need your support, your dollars.
We have a major fund-raising event each year. It is not enough. We have a small reservoir of funding, but it will not last for forever.
We serve the Palm Beach community. We, along with other non-profits, are struggling. Please, open your heart with a donation of whatever you can afford.
Your donation will live on in the mental health of those we serve.
Sincerely,
The Association for Community Counseling
EVENTS
March 24, 2012
It's almost here: Our 2012 annual luncheon. The event will feature Psychology and Dancing in a celebratory afternoon.
Speaker: Dr. Laurence, a clinical, forensic and consulting psychologist, will address anti-bullying techniques in the home, school and community.
The importance of this topic is shown in Palm Beach County School District, which has had more incidents of bullying between 2007 and 2010 than any other district in Florida.
Dancing Exhibition: Phil and Tanya Palma are ballroom dancers with more than 25 years of combined teaching experience. The talented couple says dancing is "about creating an environment from a three minute song to sharing the entire night of joy on the dance floor."
In addition, a raffle, door prizes and vendor tables are designed to tempt every buying bud.
Put it on your calander. Tell your friends.
March 24 at Benvenuto's, Boynton Beach.
Cost for luncheon is $55.
