Association for Community Counseling
About Us

Our mission is to support the members of our community in their time of need and work toward a greater good.

The Association for Community Counseling was founded 14 years ago by a group of 100 volunteers under the leadership of Dr. Merrilee Middleton and other mental health professionals. They saw a need to provide low-cost counseling for clients who could not otherwise afford professional service. The association has served more than 5,000 clients in school and after-school programs, senior residences, community sites and its clinical office.

The Association is a group of professionals, interns and lay people who are trained to provide person-centered group counseling. Our licensed psychologists and mental health counselors train and supervise all volunteers. Knowledge acquired through our training course can be applied to one’s personal and professional life.

We are volunteers who work together in a democratic, therapeutic community practicing acceptance and awareness as we offer caring service for clients and each other.

Our volunteer base is growing at a steady pace. With this growth, we have been able to accomplish more and have a larger impact upon our community. We welcome new volunteers. Please inquire today about how you can become an important part of the ACC family.
