Association for Community Counseling
Training & Workshops

Why volunteer?

The Association for Community Counseling is an all-volunteer organization. Volunteers give back to the community by helping those in need. The community benefits, but so do the individuals. By getting involved, volunteers learn about themselves and grow personally and professionally.

Training sessions are held two times a year. Volunteers are introduced to client-centered counseling and Play and Sandplay Therapy.  The course combines lecture, discussion, video, role play, and participation in an actual group.

After completing the course, graduates select the work area that interests them, such as schools, families, adults and senior adults. Graduates with master’s degrees in psychology, counseling or social work may become counselors. Others may become facilitators in our counseling teams.

Weekly supervisory meetings and ongoing training enhance skills and offer support.
